How long is “Limited Lifetime Warranty”?

Ans:

The limited lifetime warranty takes effect from the date of original purchase to 5 years after the date of product discontinued announcement.

Which products are eligible for the limited lifetime warranty?

Ans:

GDS-1052-U/GDS-1072-U/GDS-1102-U in the GDS-1000-U series digital oscilloscope.
GDS-1072A-U/GDS-1102A-U/GDS-1152A-U in the GDS-1000A-U series digital oscilloscope.

How can I obtain the limited lifetime warranty?

Ans:

You need to register the membership at https://www.gwinstek.com/en-US/member/index. After you become a member, you must register the purchased product to enjoy limited lifetime warranty.

 

4.  What is NOT covered by GW Instek's limited lifetime warranty, in terms of hardware?
Ans:

The following hardware are not covered by limited lifetime warranty:

a. LCD – One year after the date of shipment

b. Battery – Three months after the date of shipment

c. Other accessories (power cord, probe, fuse, etc) – No warranty

d. Appearance of the product (handle, stand, etc), mechanical parts (knob, button, BNC terminal, etc) – No warranty

 

5. What is NOT covered by GW Instek's limited lifetime warranty, in terms of usage?
Ans:

The following situations are not covered by the limited lifetime warranty:

a. Damage due to inappropriate transportation – No warranty

b. Damage due to accident, inappropriate usage/installation, unauthorized parts replacement – No warranty

c. Damage due to natural disaster – No warranty

d. Aging of the appearance (color change, dirt , etc ) – No warranty 

 

 6.  What should I do if the product becomes defective during the warranty period?
 Ans:

Please contact the original distributor where you purchased the product.

 

7. Do I have to pay for the transportation of product if it becomes defective during the warranty period?
Ans:

Yes. You have to pay at least for the shipping cost from your starting location to the original purchased distributor if the product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty.

 

8. If the product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, do you use only new parts for repair?
Ans:

It depends. The parts and assemblies used in repair can be either new parts or repaired parts in mint condition.

 

9. If a problem NOT covered by the limited lifetime warranty occurs (listed in FAQ number 4 and 5), do I have to pay for the repair service?
Ans:  

Yes. If a product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, but the problem falls into the scope of FAQ No.4 and No.5, you have to pay for the following items:

a. Shipping cost from your starting location to the original distributor

b. The shipping charge from the original distributor back to your location

c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc).

 

10. After the product is repaired, can the product be shipped to a specific address from the original distributor?
Ans: Yes. If the return shipping address is different from the original address, the entire shipping cost to the assigned address should be paid by the customer.

 
11. After the limited lifetime warranty period expires, is there any way to repair the product?
Ans:

If the received products have exceeded the warranty time period or the lifetime warranty, GW Instek will provide the related repair and or maintenance services. However, the owners of the products are responsible for the repair and or maintenance charges, the return shipping charges and any additional costs.

 

12. Is the limited lifetime warranty applicable for secondary purchasers?
Ans:

In the event of a sale or product transfer by the original purchaser to a third party, the warranty period shall be three (3) years from the date of purchase of the product by the original purchaser from GW Instek or its authorized distributors.
