Q1 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Which format is the EagleShot file saved?

The EagleShot file is saved in three file formats: BMP, JPG, TXT.

Q2 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How do I check the GSP-830 GPIB function normally?

After the GSP-830 is installed with a GPIB card, firstly viewed from System→F6(More)→F4(System Config), the installation can be confirmed well or so. Then viewed from System→F6(More)→F2(Self Test), the GPIB can be confirmed to work normally or so (there indicates a Pass message with a GPIB card installed). If Fail message appears, please consult the technical support and servicing personnel nearby.

Q3 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Does the syntax provided by the GSP-830 meet the IEEE requirements standard?

The GSP-830 syntax is generally compatible with IEEE488.2 (1992) and SCPI (1994) standards, no case sensitive distinctions. E.g., meas:freq:cen_9_khz, the underline is the significance of a space bar.

Q4 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How should I know about which optional accessories installed on the GSP-830?

Viewed from the System Configuration message, the optional accessories are checked thoroughly. Press System → F6(More) → F4 (System Config On). Viewed from the message window below, the setup status message for all the optional accessories won’t display on the System Configuration menu below, if a user buys the amplifier (GAP) which is classified into an external equipment.

Q5 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What is Third Inter-Modulation?

While a system works already within a non linear field, there generates a harmonic. While two tone signals are input simultaneously, the third inter-modulation harmonic is notably noted. As 1dB signal increases on the fundamental frequency, there generates 3dB Third Inter-Modulation. Particularly the 2 frequency come close together, each 2f1-f2 and 2f2-f1 for the Third Inter-Modulation is relatively close to f1 and f2. Particularly while f1 and f2 come closer, the more difficult the Third Inter-Modulation is unable to be filtered out by a wave filter completely.

Q6 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What does the spectrum analyzer Dynamic Range mean?

The Dynamic Range is where a spectrum analyzer has the capabilities to handle various signals simultaneously. The maximum Dynamic Range hold value is dependant upon the measurement being actually carried out with. The lower Dynamic Range hold limit is determined by natural noise or phase noise. The upper Dynamic Range hold limit is determined by 1dB compression point or distortion caused by a spectrum analyzer overload.

Q7 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How is the mathematical relation between dBuV and dBm?
  • The dBuV definition is such:Voltage value against 1uV, the X value, the formula:20logX=A(dBuV) (1) A signifies the power value in dBuV.
  • The dBm definition is such: Voltage value against 1mW, the X value, the formula:10logX=B(dBm) (2)B signifies the power value in dBm, called Decibel Milliwatt.

The both relation is indicated:dBm+107=dBuV,please seek data relevant to an actual deduction process.

Q8 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Whether or not is it normal to judge the GSP-827 machine itself?

Manner 1:System → System Config, from pull-down System Config option menu, there are some status bars, e.g., LO1, LO2, Reference Status. (For detailed info, please refer to user’s manual.)

Manner 2:On the right upper side of screen (below the pull-down Time option menu), there shows a diagnosis info table- simply detect whether or not the machine works normally. (For detailed info, please refer to user’s manual.)

Manner 3:The GSP-827 provides internal signal to simply confirm whether or not the machine functions normally. By (System → F3) built-in signal calibration significance (100MHz, -30dBm), the instrument functions abnormally, if signal isn’t within the specific spec range.

Q9 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Can the GSP-830 enable its signal variations being recorded over a long period of time, e.g., consecutive 2 days (48HR) for the waveform record?

The GSP-830 currently provides the EagleShot software with waveform records, as default, a single per sec. Each data log is approx. 3k bytes. There’s no question with waveform records within 2 consecutive days (48HR).

Q10 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What shall we notice (the input signal limitations) for the signal directly input to a machine?

For the GSP Series design, the input signal couldn’t exceed 25VDC, the signal power couldn’t be better than 30 dBm. More critically, if the signal is larger and instable (<10dBm and instable size), it is recommended to install an attenuator for more secure factors on measurement.

Q11 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png What is TG, what’s it used for, how to use it?

TG(Tracking Generator) relatively equals a sweep signal generator, its frequency syncs with a spectrum analyzer. Therefore TG is often applicable in Frequency Response measurement. For normal operation, standardization follows measurement, eliminates noises (e.g., Cable/Adapter), then spot the frequency range by way of relative measurement. In the other hand, If the spectrum analyzer is set for Zero Span, SA only carries out with a single frequency measurement. TG outputs a fixed frequency rather than a sweep. In the mean time, TG equals a signal generator. The frequency is consistent with the central frequency on a spectrum analyzer.

Q12 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How is the GSP-830 software version updated?

The GSP-830 software upgrade is only available for the original manufacturers, branch offices and dealers to assist with updates. Unable to enable customers to update themselves, please consult local branch offices or dealers if customers prefer software version upgrade.
