Q1 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png We are using Gwinstek oscilloscope. We were trying to hook it up computer. We were only able to get the data in 'csv' file but not able to get the video of oscilloscope in computer. The provided software produces 'index out of bound' error when we try to capture the video in signal from oscilloscope to the computer. I have used the provided software in your website.

FreeWave enables the full screen image transfer from Oscilloscope to PC via USB port in a fast-updating manner, so the user is able to see a nearly-real-time display on the PC screen. The screen image (.bmp or.jpg) and waveform raw data (.csv) could be saved into PC for further applications.

The continuous waveform images (.wav) in a time period could be recorded for later playback. This video recorder function facilitates the repetitive observation of a saved waveform with continuous variation in a certain period of time.

To fully usage of FreeWave software, User needs to install following softwares before the Freewave installation.

Q2 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png We are interested in your digital scopes and would like to know, how the roll mode looks like. Is it like the most recent measured value is shown on one end of the screen, pushing the "history" to the other end? or is the measured value slowly moving acro

On an oscilloscope, roll mode is a method of displaying acquired waveform data without waiting for the complete waveform record. For example, if a sweep was 10 divisions long with a rate of one second per division, and roll mode wasn’t available, it would take 10 seconds to fill the waveform record. But using roll mode, the oscilloscope will immediately begin displaying results rather than waiting the full 10 seconds.

When operator enables the "roll mode", the waveform continuously moves data across the display from right to left and old data will be replace by new input data. It allows you to see dynamic changes on low frequency.

Q3 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Is it possible for the GDS-1000A-U Series oscilloscope using Freewave software to automatically save a screen shot to a PC via the USB interface every trigger event or on a fixed interval such as 1 per second for an unlimited duration or until the hard dr

The Freewave is general software. GW Instek only provides this tool to users an easy way to capture the measurement data from PC for further analysis. Any special or dedicated operation, User can program by themselves on their platform. We provide all the commands on user manual for user reference.

Q4 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How to measure I2C bus and RS232 Protocol analyzer functionality?

Please confirm the following steps :
1. Selected channel bus and right click and group it
2. Select the Tools menu --> Bus Property -->  SPECIAL BUS, and than you can chooses IIC or SPI or UART  Bus function

Q5 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How to check the GDS-1000A-U series system information or firmware version?

See UTILITY --> F4 (System Info)

Q6 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How to check the GDS-1000-U series system information or firmware version?

See UTILITY --> F5 (More) --> F2 (System Info)

Q7 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Are the two channels also isolated between each channel on GW Instek Digital Storage Oscilloscope?

All of the DSO ,including GDS-1000-U/ 2000A and 3000 Series are common ground design for each channel, not isolated between each channel.

Q8 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png I need to know if the GOS-630FC is a real analog scope with DSO capabilities. My primary concern is that the scope must be able to display complex waveforms accurately and properly (RF eye-pattern of a CD/DVD player.

GOS-630FC is an analog type oscilloscope with digital control, but not a digital type oscilloscope (DSO). For CD/DVD signal measure application purpose, we think using analog type oscilloscope is better than using digital type oscilloscope. Analog type oscilloscope has faster update rate and real time waveform display, which digital oscilloscope (DSO) can not perform as well.

However, if you must get eye-pattern, the best way would be using a very high-end DSO (much more accurate). But unfortunately, neither GOS-630FC nor GDS-2000A (GWInstek DSO) can do eye-pattern.

Q9 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png How to observe frequency spectrum & measure freq. in GRS-6052A/6032A

GDS-6000A just only provide time domain measurement not support frequency domain analysis.
If they interesting frequency spectrum measurement, please consider our GDS series (Digital Storage Oscilloscope) FFT measurement or GSP series (Spectrum analyzer) to analysis.

Q10 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png We want to measure a 1200V peak-peak, 20MHz signal in power supply testing. Please confirm if we can use GOS-6031 for this purpose. If GOS-6031 is not suitable, please let us know a suitable model to measure the above signal.

We did agree with you that GOS-6031 is a good choice.
But the end user needs to purchase a HV (High Voltage) differential probe to measure 1200V peak-peak.

Q11 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png The scope display changes with instrument attitude. With inputs grounded the trace positions change in X and Y axis and in rotation by approx. 2mm as the instrument is moved from face vertical to face horizontal position.

Because of CRT relation of physical characteristics so the trace of the oscilloscope is very easy to be influenced, so when you change the direction of the oscilloscope, usually the trace will be influenced by magnetic field of the earth, which is the reason why the oscilloscope usually all have a Trace Rotation function.

Q12 gw_product_detail_bar.png gw_product_detail_bar.png Why is the low frequency of the oscilloscope CRT brightness so dark? it can not be the appropriate observed signal.

Because CRT of 30MHz does not have Third Accelerating Anode (P3) to accelerate the high voltage, so the luminance of trace should not be too bright.
